Procedures
For many years people have argued that cellulite is merely fat and can only be treated with diet and exercise. Yet, non-overweight, physically active women have also been known to have dimpled thigh skin. The unfortunate truth is that 80-90% of women will get cellulite sometime after they reach puberty and not all of these women are considered to be overweight. Facts:
About Cellulite
Cellulite is the appearance of an unattractive dimpled skin or “dimpled fat” on or around the outer thighs, buttocks and other body areas. It is the cottage-cheese-like appearance of the skin or irregular bulging or dimpling of the skin. Cellulite tends to worsen with age, as the body's degeneration accelerates. Cellulite occurs due to impaired microcirculation beneath the skin. The lymphatic and blood flow becomes sluggish causing extravasations (leakage) of toxins from microcirculatory system. These toxins begin to damage the connective tissue that helps to support and separate the epidermis from the fat. The fat tissue begins to clump and rise towards the epidermis, giving the skin the dimpled appearance of cellulite. The clump of fat tissue along with damaged connective tissue further worsens the microcirculation; a vicious cycle begins and the stages repeat.
In order to treat cellulite, the following physiological conditions MUST be addressed:
Carbo-Lite (Carbon Dioxide Infusion) for treatment of Cellulite
Carbon Dioxide infusion has been proven to help reduce cellulite. CO2 is infused into the cellulite area. CO2 creates a “hypoxic” environment (low oxygen) which triggers off a pathway to open up the blood vessels (vasodilatation). The vasodilatation helps to improve microcirculation, lymphatic flow and restore the connective tissue architecture beneath the skin. On an average the patient may require 10 - 12 treatments, done once in few weeks. The results depends on the severity (grading) of the cellulite. Most often patients notice about 70% improvement. The results last for few years, after which the cellulite may gradually reappear. The procedure is very safe with an extremely low incidence of side effects, all of which are temporary and minor. There is no limitation to daily activities and patients can resume their chores immediately. The treatment is fast, safe and tolerable.
Laser treatment for Cellulite
The latest treatment for cellulite is deep CO2 Laser therapy. The idea of CO2 Laser is to create a number of vertical injuries to the patient's skin in order to restore the connective tissue architecture beneath the skin. Following the deep CO2 Laser therapy, the cellulite area is replaced with new healthy skin. Once the old, cellulite skin is removed, new and unmarred skin grows to replace it. A series of treatment sessions are usually needed to obtain the best results. The procedure is very safe with an extremely low incidence of side effects, all of which are temporary and minor. There is no limitation to daily activities and patients can resume their chores immediately. The treatment is fast, safe and tolerable.
Safety, risks and side effects
The treated area normally appears red for a day or two. There will be slight microscopic scab formation which willl disspear within few days.
Cost
Cost of treatment for cellulites depends on the treatment area. On an average it may range from RM 500 - RM 800 for each treatment.
